2023: Consultancy services in 14 countries! Europe, Africa, Caribbean and America
2023 was a busy year for NEMUS, which continued its internationalisation, operating in 14 countries in Europe (Portugal, Bulgaria), Central America and the Caribbean (Honduras, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Grenada, Barbados, Jamaica), South America (Brazil) and Africa (Angola, Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa and Rwanda).
The variety of projects and geographies illustrates NEMUS’ ability to adapt to different contexts and needs. Each project represented a unique challenge that the company endeavoured to respond to with a varied range of services, with multidisciplinary and innovative approaches.
The following are some representative examples of projects carried out in different geographies:
1. Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA): NEMUS has been involved in the SEA of Plans in Portugal and Rwanda, as well as Public Policy Programmes in Mozambique and Zambia, promoting sustainable development and increasing climate resilience.
2. Energy Studies: Energy projects in Angola, Honduras and Brazil to strengthen these countries’ energy capacities, but also contributed to the transition to cleaner energy sources.
3. Socio-economic and resettlement studies: In Angola, Brazil and Mozambique, NEMUS took part in conducting various socio-economic and resettlement studies, with the aim of ensuring the inclusion of local communities and their compensation.
4. Biodiversity conservation and climate change: In South Africa and Barbados, NEMUS led studies on adapting to climate change, particularly the unique biodiversity of the Caribbean.
5. Coastal management and planning: In Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines, NEMUS was involved in the integrated coastal zone management pilot project.
Most of the projects carried out integrated the subject of climate change: three examples in particular stand out: the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) study in the Caribbean, Rwanda’s National Master Plan for Spatial Planning and Development 2020-2050 (SEA), and the Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage Pilot Project, in the Mpumalanga region in South Africa.
These projects reflect NEMUS’ commitment to contributing to a more sustainable and resilient future, as well as our commitment to the internationalisation of environmental and social consultancy.
