Nemus at the IX Congress on Planning and Management of Coastal Areas
Nemus recently participated in the IX Congress on Planning and Management of Coastal Areas of Portuguese Speaking Countries, presenting four communications regarding the sustainable development of coastal areas. The event’s main theme was “The Challenges for the Next Decade: Monitoring and Adaptation”, held between 14 and 16 May at the Instituto Superior Técnico of the Faculdade de Lisboa, and was attended by speakers from the different Portuguese-speaking countries.
Pedro Bettencourt, Nemus’ CEO, was responsible for the communications on “Climate Change and Sustainability of Coastal Lagoon Systems” and “Dredging, Sediment and Environmental Impact Assessment”. The remaining communications from Nemus were presented by César Jesus, geologist, PhD in Geosciences, who presented the communication “Sedimentary Cells as Coastal Management Units”, and Júlia Metrass Mendes, landscape architect, who presented the communication “Risk Areas, Reconstruction of Beaches and Coastal Management”.
Nemus presented four communications with very current and relevant themes for the sustainable development of coastal areas and thus fulfilled the objective of the 9th Edition of the Congress, which sought to promote the sharing of knowledge (and sustainable solutions) between the different stakeholders of the coastal areas of Portuguese-speaking countries.
