Nemus enters the Brazilian market with the Assessment of Salvador – Itaparica Bridge
The Consortium NEMUS / V&S Ambiental (a company from Salvador) won the international tender for the preparation of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) and environmental impact (Rima) report for the implementation of the Salvador-Itaparica bridge, over Todos os Santos Bay.
The bridge will be about 12 km long and will be the second longest in Latin America and 23rd worldwide. In addition to the construction of the bridge, the project foresees the construction of access roads on the island and Salvador, realignment work on the Itaparica island, duplication of the currently existing bridge (connecting the island to the shore on the West side), as well as the construction and rehabilitation of road connections to the West road system, being one of the largest studies ever conducted by a Portuguese company.
The assessment, which is being developed for the Planning Secretariat of Bahia State (SEPLAN), includes extensive data collection campaigns and public hearings and should be completed in the second half of 2014.
