With its future population predicted to reach over 400 thousand people, the Master Plan for the Urbanization of the Municipal District of KaTembe will occupy an area of 4 thousand hectares right next to what already is Mozambique’s most populated area. These conditions required the study to identify the main effects predicted to affect such domains as climate, geology, land use, water resources, ecology, environmental quality, landscape, human settlements, economy and patrimony.
The project performed by Nemus in partnership with the Betar Group crossed the sectorial analysis of those domains in order to rank the measures of impact mitigation, point out key aspects and present two possible scenarios for the implementation of the Plan that defines the principles which regulate the transformation of land uses and the overall indexes of land occupation.
