Public Participation on the River Basin Management Plan for Madeira Archipelago

Consortium led by NEMUS recently concluded the drafting of the River Basin Management Plan (RBMP) for the river basin district of Madeira Archipelago.

The documents are now out for public consultation, a step of the utmost relevance to the consolidation of the Plan.

Public participation will run for a six month period starting from the publication of Notice nr. 9/2013/M on the Portuguese Official Gazette (19th August 2013 – 19th February 2014).

RBMPs are instruments for water planning and management aiming at the management, protection and promotion of water resources’ environmental, social and economic aspects, developed in accordance with the impositions of the European Union arising from the publication of the Water Framework Directive (WFD, Directive 2000/60/EC).
