Public consultations for the Environmental Impact Assessment of the Project for the Construction of the Thermoelectric Power Station, the gas pipeline connecting the Port of Nacala and the High Voltage Line connecting the Nacala-a-Velha substation
Environmental Impact Assessment of the Project for the Construction of the Thermoelectric Power Station, the gas pipeline connecting the Port of Nacala and the High Voltage Line connecting the Nacala-a-Velha substation: Environmental Pre-Viability Study and Scope Definition (EPDA) and Terms of Reference (ToR) for public consultation
As part of the preparation for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the Project for the Construction of the Thermoelectric Power Plant, the gas pipeline connecting to the Port of Nacala and the High Voltage Line connecting the Nacala-a-Velha substation, a public consultation session will be held on December 4th.
This first consultation will take place at the Primary School in Bairro Matola, at 2 pm. The purpose of this consultation will be the presentation and discussion of the contents of the draft Environmental Pre-Feasibility and Scope Definition (EPDA) and of the Terms of Reference (TOR) of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
This project foresees the construction of a 291°MW Combined Cycle Thermoelectric Power Plant, in two phases, about 12 km south of the Port of Nacala. In addition to the Thermoelectric Plant, the following infrastructures will be built: gas pipeline (connection between the reception, storage and regasification plant to be built at the Port of Nacala and the Nacala Thermoelectric Plant); and transmission line (high voltage line that will connect the Nacala Thermoelectric Power Station to the future Nacala-a-Velha substation).
Regarding the transmission line, a new high voltage line (about 1 km long) will be implemented, which will connect the Thermoelectric Power Station to an existing line that will be reinforced (about 11 km long) and which connects to the Nacala-a-Velha substation.
